:breathes:
Okay, so I got most everything out of the way that I wanted to. Penny looks absolutely ravishing. Yves looks moth eaten. Poor dude. At least his coat is soft.
I didn't clip him, but I feel like he got a good intro to clippers. He was all interested in them and he thought they felt weird on his muzzle.
I have to sleep now so that I can wake up nice and early. Night all!

RPSI Inspection Part 1
Ahhhhhhh! The inspection is TOMORROW! I'm fairly terrified and excited at the same time.
Today is bath day for Penny and Yves, so I plan on bathing and conditioning everything thoroughly. Then, brushing out mane and tail thoroughly, plus godly amounts of show sheen on the tails and bodies. I'll finish up trimming Penny's mane (already pulled it, but it is still a bit long). I may have to vinegar Penny's tail to get any urine stains out.
I will also sand paper their toesies so that they look at smooth, then apply a hoof sealant so they stay healthy.
Penny then gets clipped up (ears, muzzles, bridle path) and her tail banged. I will also bang Yves' tail and maybe make a bridle path depending on how he is behaving after all this primping!
Tomorrow morning, we are heading to the show between 5 and 6 am so that we arrive there between 6 and 7 am. That way, they will have some time to chill in their stalls before the inspection, which starts at 9.
After arriving, I will be braiding both of their manes, more show sheen and hoof polish, plus some baby oil on their faces to make 'em look pretty. :D
Wish me luck!

Sierra Trek
Right now it almost feels like I'm taking a break from horses... almost. I'm still a working student and, therefore, still work, but I have ridden Ed only twice in the past week and a half. I'm still feeding and visiting... just not riding.Probably the main reason is that I have this Sierra trek I'm going on from September 3rd through September 10th or 11th, but will be gone from horses all together from the 1st till the 12th or so. I don't remember the last time I've spent that much time away from horses! Wait... yes I do. It was my the summer after my freshman year of high school; so five years ago. Wow... I need a life. Haha.
It should be fun though. We plan to do some "peak bagging" which is where a couple of crazy people go around in the backcountry climbing the "14ers" (mountains that exceed over 14,000 feet of elevation) for fun. It should be pretty exciting/exhausting. We are trying for Thunderbolt (14,003), Mt. Sill (14,153), and Starlight Peak (14,242). T-Bolt and Starlight are both considered some of the hardest climbs in the Sierras. Some of T-Bolt is exposed 5.9 rated climbing. Eeks! The picture is of Starlight...
Say a prayer for me. :p

Penny's Nephew Needs Help
I am SHOCKED to find this. SHOCKED. I was following Dark Nose, a nice bay colt out of Penny's half-sister (same dam). He was on track for Kentucky a few years back, but it never panned out. I recently saw a thread on COTH asking for help for an OTTB. It was Dark Nose. Poor guy.
Just thought I would put this out there for more people to see. Neigh Sayers has fell on tough times is in need of help.
Cute boy, isn't he?

Repeat it with me...
"I'm a sporthorse with a future consisting of dressage, show jumping, and cross country. I will not participate in frivolous Arabian activities such as overly arching my neck, spooking for no reason, and squealing my head off while I run around the pasture with my tail vertically inclined."Yves had an interesting phase yesterday and was very much showing the "other blood" that makes up his pedigree. It's amusing at some points since, even though he has the least percentage of Trakehner heritage in his pedigree, he is constantly thought to be the Trakehner foal of the bunch thanks to him being so lightly boned and his dished face. Alright, it's not ^THAT^ dished, he can still breathe fine, but it is definitely there.
I'm starting to initiate Op ClipDaBaby and came across that picture while googling suggestions on the topic. At this point, I feel that if I did clip him like that, the Arabian colt in the front pasture will be here to stay instead of the lovely eventer prospect I had about a week ago.
